  • Recycling your mattress is better for our environment. You help reduce carbon footprint and minimise the waste that ends up filing our landfill. More importantly, mattress recycling can repurpose and reuse the parts of your old mattress, such as springs, coils, foams, wood, and upholstery.

  • At Mattrec Automated Mattress Recycling, we recycle your mattress through our unique patented process. Our groundbreaking technology uses ultra high-pressure (recycled) water and automated handling systems to deconstruct your old mattresses.

  • We can recycle all types of mattress, from box springs, memory foams, and other specialty mattress foams.

  • We will collect your old mattress right at your doorstep. From your home, we will bring the mattress to our facility and put it through the world's first water based automated mattress recycling process.

  • Mattrec separates and processes each component of the mattress into reusable material streams. Steel springs are recovered and sent to metal recyclers for re‑melting into new steel products. Foam, fabric and soft materials are converted into an engineered fibre product that can be used in landscaping, filtration, erosion control, and other industrial applications. We continue to expand the range of end‑markets for these materials as part of our commitment to maximising resource recovery.

  • Compared to other waste, mattresses occupy 400% more space. That is why mattresses recycling makes a difference in reducing the volume of landfills. By recycling your mattress, you not only reduce the negative impact on landfill, but also help recover valuable materials, such as metals, foams, and fabric, that can be reused and repurposed.

Fees and Services

  • Because we collect your mattress promptly and hassle-free, there are logistics and operating costs involved. We also use our proprietary technology to recycle your old mattresses and have fees to cover these expenses. Our pricing is competitive with many waste centres when comparing pickup services. Drop‑off at council sites may be cheaper if you don’t require collection.

  • Pricing depends on your location and the type of collection:

    Illawarra (Thursday run)

    • Kerbside: $75 per item

    • VIP In‑Home Collection: $120 per item

    Southern Highlands / Picton / Wilton (Friday loop)

    • Kerbside: $95 per item

    • VIP In‑Home Collection: $145 per item

    If a booking is cancelled prior to the agreed collection day, a $15 administration fee applies.

  • Our recycling facility is at Port Kembla in NSW Australia

  • No, you don’t need to bring your mattress to us. To offer you maximum convenience, we will collect it from you at your property at a time suitable for you.

  • Yes, that’s our specialty! At Mattrec, you can trust that we will arrive at your doorstep after you make your booking. Our mattress collection team is available five days a week until 4 pm.

  • Simply book online through our website to have you mattress(es) collected.

MattSiv — Recycled Silt Socks

  • MattSiv is a 180 mm recycled silt sock used for sediment and erosion control on civil, landscaping and stormwater sites.

  • MattSiv helps manage sediment movement, protect drains, control runoff and support erosion control on construction and civil works.

  • Each MattSiv contains around 40% more fibre than a standard 150 mm silt sock — often equivalent to the fibre recovered from a queen mattress.

  • Yes. Used units can be returned to Mattrec for responsible recycling, supporting circular‑economy outcomes across NSW.

  • MattSiv is approximately 180 mm in diameter and supplied in 2 m lengths. Custom lengths are available for civil contractors on request.

  • MattSiv can be ordered directly through the Mattrec website: www.mattrec.com/mattsiv

  • Yes. Trade pricing and pallet quantities are available for civil contractors, councils and developers.

  • MattSiv is suitable for sediment and erosion control applications commonly required by councils, civil contractors and stormwater crews.

  • To install MattSiv, cut open the outer packaging, recycle the wrap, unroll the unit and allow it to expand. Because MattSiv is vacuum‑bagged flat, it may need to be rolled or flexed for a few minutes to help it return to full diameter. Once expanded, place it where sediment control is required and ensure full ground contact.

  • Yes. Delivery is available across NSW, and additional areas may be available on request. Free pickup is also available from our Port Kembla facility.
